I'm sorely tempted! AND I have a good 3.0TD and 340F box to go!
Just thinking, the 3.0TD owner could probably claw back a grand if he was careful and patient. Engine, box, ECU and handful of Lex bits gotta be worth a grand on eBlag.
(well not really but thanks for convincing me! )
Vince fancy doing one for me in the new year?

They would very wheel spinny though, no weight over the rear axle.
I intend cutting the arse of it and traybacking it.wouldn't take to long to make it half presentable...oh and definitely four wheel drive.Non intercooled nothing.

The MK2 pick-up has a manual transfer box. (transmission needs to be in neutral to engage 4wd)

1: will the new lex lump use the surf turbo? or is that not poss?
2: can i keep the surf auto box? or will it become a manual?
3: what other cars use the same 1UZ-FE engine?
4: whats the biggest problem to overcome in doing this conversion?
5: whats the deal with the dash? can the surf dask still be used or has it got to be something else? i.e gages?

You do know the Lexus V8 is petrol, right?
There's no room to fit a turbo in the Surf's engine bay when the V8 is in there. A supercharger is possible though.
2: can i keep the surf auto box? or will it become a manual?
The Surf's auto 'box won't work with the Lexus ECU. I use the Lexus auto 'box adapted for 4wd.
3: what other cars use the same 1UZ-FE engine?
See Mack's post above.
4: whats the biggest problem to overcome in doing this conversion?
The oil filter location. Not much of a headache, more of an itch.
5: whats the deal with the dash? can the surf dask still be used or has it got to be something else? i.e gages?
The Surf's dash can be used, but it's prudent to get an auxillary temp gauge.
cheers mate.
