Radiator fan on all the time ....problem?

Hi all AGAIN ,
Quick one to those in the know, my 1993 3.0td ssr-g recaro mmmm lovely.

Question is why is my fan on constantly , the radiator one and also the dash temp dial never goes over half way and gets there quite quickly.
The engine radiator and hoses all seem hot but i was wondering if it is a potential problem and is the fan supposed to stay on ALL the time.
help please and advice as i hear these engines suffer from overheating as well ( which is why i didnt get a 2.4td bahhhh)

The temperature sender has gone, or someone has disconnected the cable - the fan goes on all the time if the temp sender wire is disconnected.

If its the big white one then it will spin all the time as it is belt driven, it just wont do much work till the engine gets hot and the viscos clutch in the fan kicks in.

if its the small one on the outside of the rad off the the left it is the air con fan so check you havent pressed the A/C button by mistake.
