Question, my 94 kzn 130 takes an age to fill up with the pump handle clicking off all the time, as i fill it i can see the juice running back up the filler pipe, thus clicking the handle off

part from this no probs at all, is this norm, ????/

    cheers

Nope - I've got the same truck and mine fills fine - check there's nothing blocking the filler pipe.

How about the tank vent being blocked - can't remember where this is however if it were blocked it may not allow the fuel to push out the air and cause the pump to shut off. You may find if you run the tank really empty then when you undo the cap there will be a hiss as air enters it.

Alternately is it just on one pump that it happens or do you fill it up at different places. Mine fills fine on most pumps but occasionally I get a pump that does as you describe.

Or as Linda says, there may be a blockage in the filler pipe.

      Cheers

Are you filling up at a place with Hi-Flo pumps. These are usually at places that trucks use here in Australia. The HI-Flo pumps deliver fuel at a higher rate to reduce filling time and this is sometimes to quick for the vent to cope with.

I'm not sure we have those here - never come across them. Wish I had as it takes ages to fill my lorry!!

A little more info for you. The pipe runs under the wheel arch. There is a plastic cover that comes off (four screws) and you can disconnect the pipe from the filler pretty easily and see if there are any obstructions into the tank.

The vent pipe runs down behind the filler pipe and can also be taken off but is more difficult to see if there is any obstruction in it without getting a mouth full of fuel

If the vent pipe is the same as the 2.4 then it runs from the top of the tank into the chassis rail just in front of the right rear wheel. There is a non return valve in the line on top of the tank and this can get jammed. I re-piped and re-routed my vent up into the engine bay and have had no problems filling up since.

I must be talking about the anti blow back pipe then.

cheers for the advice, i think its the vent pipe cause filling her up tonight when she was nearly empty there was no hiss as i undone the fuel cap, i also managed to get a hose pipe down the filler pipe about 35cm, cme out with fuel on the tip, so that makes me think theres no blockage there,

will get underneath at the weekend and see what i find, will let you know, cheers

i used to get the same problem when the nozzle was all the way in and the pump handle was virtually touching the body..... i simply pulled the nozzle out about halfway and tilted downwards.... now it works everytime.

ymmv but it worked for me
