  • Shock & Diesel Tuning Info Please!

I am going to replace the shocks on my 1994 Surf and I am wondering if stock Toyota units are sufficient or if I would benefit from getting aftermarket shocks. I have 31" tires and drive on paved roads 95% of the time. Also, would shocks sold in the states for a 1994 4Runner fit my car?

The Toyota dealer about $183.XX for a set of four stock replacement shocks.

Also, what's the best way to get more power from the 1KZ-TE motor?

    Thank you for any information.

In the UK, Toy shocks will be horredusly expensive, Procomp (or others)shocks are much cheaper. 3000's (oil filled) are direct replacment, or 9000's (gas) are a little uprated for firmer handling.

Not sure if 4Runner's had adjustable suspension like Surfs UK ones don't, but you'll not have it if you use procomp's either so it don't matter.

Look for rancho, OME, bilsteins, etc for shock options.

Your price isn't bad, in my opinion, and you won't loose the adjustablity.

Improve power by the usual means, intercooling, intake, exhaust, ECU mapping, etc. 3.0 is pretty good anyway.
