Possible blown head gasket

Hilux surf 3ltr TD KZN185 96/97 reg.
I've been told my head gasket has gone as I'm loosing coolant with no sign of where it's going but I don't have any evidence of oil in my coolant or milky oil...???
Any thoughts?
