When changing some bit's and pre mot clean up on my mk2 3l I found that some time in the past the tube on the bottom of my boost pressure sensor had been snapped off and just stuck back on with some sort of black sealant.I have been lucky with a surf friend to pick up a mot fail 3l manual for spares. Now my surf is auto so checked the sensor had the same part number and fitted it.Before the new sensor was fitted it would hit 12psi on the gauge and hold it to the red now it kicks off at the same rev's approx 1500-2000rpm but only hit's 7psi and starts tailing off at approx 3500rpm.I have done my searching and found that it should do 7.4 - 9.7 psi. Measured at full throttle (4,600 rpm) my surf will rev to the red but as I said above drops off and has never got near 9psi.So my question could it of caused damage to the turbo from running the 12psi of the broken sensor as I do not know how long it has been like it before I got the truck.I have had the surf 2 years and it has always felt slower then my old 3l.Any idea's would be great.

The ecu will see overboost and go into limp mode, so it is very unlikly that you would of damaged the engine.Just sounds to me as if the old boost sensor was not working. The new second hand one is controlling. If you want a bit more boost fit two 1mm washers behind the wastegate actuator on the turbo.www.overfab.uk
