  • idle speed

Quick question really my 3.0 surf seems to be idle at around 500rpm and is shaking the whole car. I have had this happen to me before but then it just stopped. I know the engine is running from ecu. Any ideas would be great thanks

you should be able to raise the revs on the cable near/on the throttle body
    idle should be about 750

It does this sometime then goes back to normal idling speed after a couple of days why would it do that. If it doesn't go back to normal I will tweak the cable to suit

It's due to change filter possibly getting it done tomorrow would that change the idle speed. I know the idle speed is done through ecu. The rpm is around 500 which is low. As I put it into drive and have foot on brake the vibration just seen to be getting worse

            Hi,
as Stormy said, that drop in idle speed can be due to clogged up injectors. Put some good injector cleaner in the fuel tank and see if it helps.
            Cheers

Dodgy spill control valve. Check the resistance with a meter.it should read 1.4 ohms open circuit ( plug disconnected). The spill control valve is the same on the 2lte and the 1kzte pumps.

I put some injector cleaner in the tank and seems to be working so far like. Hopefully it's fixed it for good

I tend to put half a bottle of redex every other tankfull
Seems to work wonders. (Helps as i run 100% cooking oil)

Is it okay to do that I have to poor a 1/4 of the bottle every full tank

Iv noticed that the idle speed doesn't affect the vibration as it hasn't changed but then sometime the vibrations go but come back. Can anyone think of what it could be

Faulty injector(s), mine did this last year, would start and run but the vibration made it look like the engine was trying to jump out the engine bay, ordered a new set of injectors from diesel Bob and all was ok

How much did the injectors cost you. I know there not cheap

As far as I can remember, they were about 40 quid each plus vat, they're sold on an exchange basis, you get the new ones and send the old ones back to be refurbished.
Prices may have changed since then and my Surf is a 2.4, not sure if this makes a difference to the price or not.

Just google Diesel Bob to check availability
