  • T-Belt Light Reset for KZN185

    Hi Folks,

Ok, I know this has been covered before, but there are several ways to reset the light. This is the method I used to reset the light on my 1998 3.0td-i.

First off, I have the Optitron guages on my Surf which has a digital odometer, so there is no screw on the back of guages to swap over, and no reset button behind a grommet and a digital odo so the wheel reset method wont work....

But what does work is the following
    • Set the digital display to ODO
    • Turn off IGN
    • Holding the TRIP reset button, turn on IGN
    • Hold TRIP for >5sec.
    • The digital display will show "1"
    • Pressing the TRIP will advance the number 1, 2, 3, 4 etc etc...
    • Each represents 10,000k. So 10 = 100,000
    • When you get to "10" press and hold TRIP for >5sec.
    • Display resets back to the ODO reading
    • Turn off IGN and then back on
    • T-Belt light is gone out!!!
This is the method used to reset the light on the 90 series Landcruiser and it also works for the Surf. Thanks to my buddy in the Toyota Service Dept for this one.

So you can set the T-Belt light to come on at whatever interval you want then? Cool.
I'll make a note of that cos my next Surf will be a 98-02 3rd gen....if I ever get rid of this one.

Yeah, and on the 90 series 'cruisers (not j-spec) you can select to clock up in miles or km's.
'Cos they have miles and km's on the speedo....
