  • Transfer lever removal

Fitting an Xpajun 2" body lift and 31 10.50 15 mud tyres to my father Surf.

But before I dig a hole for myself I thought 'Ask the pro's'!

Transfer case lever with 4wd button, how does one remove it to screw on the extension, I know, unscrew it 😄 but what the incorporated 4wd switch, is that effected, I.e disconnect it down the line somewhere?

    Any help much appreciated folks!

    Regards.

I just lifted mine last week...you won't need that extension.

Though for future reference there's an allen screw in the knob holds it on if I remember correctly, have a look on the side towards the bottom, maybe on the passengers side of the button.

You'll have to remove the stick surround (easy) then undo the little screw and disconnect the wiring (little plug). Fairly straight forward

        Thanks for the replies!

My old Surf came with a 2" body lift and the transfer lever barely came through the gaiter!

Any pics of yours post lifted set ups would be much appreciated..

Did you have to have too loosen the auto box lever rod underneath to allow movement while jacking?

        Regards

          Fuel filler woes

Well finally got the 2" body lift into my fathers 3.0 Auto.

I am going to do a full write up as although it's probably been done to death, I feel another cant hurt.

The final problem I'm having is the fuel filler corsitina hose ( not smaller glug pipe ) is way to short!

Tried removing the shielding around pipes ( nightmare due to limited access and seized bolts ) and other end jubilee clip isn't accessable..

Maybe I shouldn't have undone the pipe all the way before lift!

Normally the fuel filler pipe is long enough for a 2" body lift.Did you slacken the pipe from both ends when doing the lift

Maybe I'm being silly here but is there a way to get to the bottom clip nearest the tank?

Inspection plate only gives access to fuel sender unit?

Hopefully get my hand in the gap between the chassis and body now and undo clip..

They must put the tank in before they put body on..

Got that one ok under the arch and managed to squeeze ma hand down to the bottom clip, thank god!

Just got to take a bit out of steering column surround!

Watch this space for write up!

Ended up removing transfer lever all together and welding in a piece!

Failed Mot though 😔 Steering idler has excessive play, small hole in exhaust, no fog lamp tell tale and brake compensator axle linkage siezed! Not bad for 300k and 19 year old I thought!

Advisories on body lift included, steering linkage modified but not inappropriately 😝
