  • Fueling problems again again...

I have managed to fix most problems that I have had over the last couple of years with trial and error, help from this forum, especially Bushwhacker and perseverance. This one has me stumped.

At idle, if I rev the engine, it get's to about 3,000, it labours a bit and I get bluey white smoke out of the exhaust.

I have tried driving but I can only crawl. The effects are similar to blocked fuel filter that I have had before.

The fuel filter is new, I have checked the strainer on the spill control valve and the banjo assembly all seems clear.

I do have a lot of air that won't shift in the clear fuel lines to the pump.

Sounds like you have already identified the problem.
    Air in the fuel line.

I had the exact exact problem as you. It was the filters inside the pump.

There are three filters in total which I recommend you to clean. My video hear shows this. However if the problem still consist the spill control valve may be stuck or not functioning properly resulting in this. I do have a spare Pump if you need one btw....

Thanks for pointing me to that video.

I have done the banjo and spill valve but I will have another look at the fuel temp sensor filter.

I will also run fuel directly into the IP with a funnel to identify if it's the filter housing or other connection causing the problem.

          thats says it all.
its sucking air in. common places is the fuel filter. 2nd is the fuel filter primer.
but also check all hose fittings. last resort, i have heard of someone who had the pipe inside the tank fracture.

I have tried two different filter housings I still have a void that will not clear between the filter and the IP. I can see that there is no air being taken into the IP as there is a couple of inches of fuel 'head' in the lines that is coming down from the filter. It's just the air void that won't clear. Where should that air go? If I leave it idle for a while, would it normally suck through?

With that said, if I rev the engine, I am still getting the labouring and smoke at about 3,000 revs, so I am thinking it is the IP that may still be the problem. All the little filters and other bits that I can get to on the IP seem OK to me.

One easy way to eliminate the fuel filter primer head is to put a surgical glove over the top of the primer and fasten tight. If it runs ok that's your problem!

Sound like the spill control valve is blocked internally or has just given up. I've got a fully working Pump if you're interested 07701048035.

I may be able to sought you out with another one, even if surfboy takes mine.

Long story short, I've got one on a custom engine rebuilt that's going slow, but eventually I think I'll find a mechanical and put it on instead of the electric one. My numbers above if you need to get to me.
