      For sure. I'd likely replace it with another surf though. Just got to mentally balance the finances really.

      The previous owner made some 'odd' decisions in terms of modifications (wierd rear bumper, no wheel carrier) that I've been steadily working around. Partly wondering whether it's worth starting from a new template....

      Either way, money. :-(

        If you like the truck and would get another one I would keep it and fix it.
        As you said if you buy another it will likely have the same thing happen at some point.
        If it's fixed properly it should then last a long time.
        If I scrapped my one I couldn't afford or justify getting another.
        That quote seems ok to me as I'm about to splash nearly 1k just on the parts and do it myself.
        Make sure you get an AMC or similar good quality head though, as if you don't the chances are it will go again.
        The cheap Chinese ones are only good for tripping over in the garage!
