dear all
please help i have a 1994 3liter manual surf loved it, but after 2 moths of happy ownership the raditor blew at the seem on the top tank. so i replaced it with a good quality rad happy days. After fitting rad and topping up coolent etc and tryed to make sure no air was in the system i noticed there rad hoses were very firm and felt under pressure but i thought it was just an bit of an air lock so keept bleeding out the system. Then I noticed the temp gauge going upto the hot end but never getting to the red section and then come down within a couple of mins, this carried on for a few days so i fitted a new thermostate this helped for a 2 days but when going up hills temp gauge goes up and when going down hill it drops back to normal temp and jumps up and down very quickly at will and the hoses are still under alot of pressure.
i was adiviced by a garage that its sounds like the head has a crack in it and i trust the garage would you agree ? also seem to think that it would be around £1500/2000 for them to fit.
has anyone brought and fitted a head plus all parts from roughtrax was it any good ?
is it a bugger of a job any special tools needed ?
once done has anyone had problems after new head fitted?
or should i just put the truck up for bits and put the cash towards a new car.
any advice would be really helpfull as im a bit unsure what to do many thanks
