Replacing the pump seems to have resolved the shaking. I know the viscous fan has some power and weight behind it but surprised that it could have such a dramatic effect.
I was feeling the pump by hand when I got it off and you wouldn't have any idea it was knackered. Felt smooth and no unwanted movements to be found.
