    Hi all,

I apologise for my first post's being for assistance however these things seem to happen largely to me!

The issue on my 3ltr SSRX LTD M reg seems to be possibly linked to the oil pressure guage? This could be wishful thinking but the level seems to be lower than normal and the main issues being the gear selection.

When coming to a stop or from a stopped position it seems to need a few extra RPM to pick up first and then jumps into life and then further up the speedo around 50mph instead of changing up a gear it again goes higher up the rev's before finally changing... Would say almost like it was in O/D but it definitely isn't! (I double checked )

    Any advise gratefully received.

    Thanks

    Chris

The ect button when pressed will hold the gears back so they will take longer to change up.It acts like a sports mode to give better pulling away on hills and traffic lights

When engaged should it only drop into 1st gear when it reaches a higher rpm?

Currently I get no response until about 2k+ then it throws itself into life

it should pull away almost right away.I would check the atf fluid first before sending it to a garage.
Get the truck up to temp and then with foot on the brake move the gear selector through the gears several times and then check the level on the orange dip stick

Thanks Storm, If like you say it appears to be time for a ATF complete change and not a top up is it easy to do like draining the oil from the engine and filling up?

If you know what your doing then yes it can be easy but if not let the garage do it as it will be a 2 bucket job.1 full with new ATF and 1 empty one.Make sure the outlet pipe from the bottom of the rad is in the empty bucket and the inlet in the full bucket and start the truck up.Once clean ATF comes out the outlet pipe then you know the complete system has new ATF.
If its just a top up needed then you will need to fab something up to fit in the dipstick tube where the atf dipstick goes and then slowly pour new fluid in and then check every so often till enough fluid has been added

Not wanting to butt in but I will
That sounds like the air con compressor cap
You need to look at the r h side near the firewall

Got it... dont have any fluid however the tiny amount I do have seems to be of reasonable condition! Where does all the fluid go eh!

i take it you checked after its up to temp etc Chris. If so then just a top up will be ok.Dextronll or Dextronlll ATF will be ok.

Yea I let it warm up for a good 20 mins then cycled through the gears for a minute before checking and it's literally just on the end of the stick :|

Can't say I have noticed either of those two brands will that be halfords or a proper motor spares job?

Halfords is ok As long as the automatic transmission fluid is either Dexll or Dexlll. Its not cheap though thats the only thing. When i did mine on an old surf i bought the 4 or 5l container to use and what was left i use to fill the fuel filter up with it when doing filter changes as its a good good fuel system cleaner aswell

Check fluid level with engine idling.
