    If you find a copy of the 1kz-te toyota manual on line there is a full diagnostic run through of the engine in it, checking almost everything. Could take a few days to do but should be of use.

      Update.

      After much umming and arring, I bit the bullet and decided to change the fuel pump.

      Was a little bit awkward doing it in situ, but I managed it, with a little advice from Vince.

      I'm very surprised how easy removing and installing the cambelt is.

      Was very very nervous just before I turned the key, but only with a few cranks of the engine it fired into life, and runs like it should.

      Very impressed with myself for achieving this task, 6 years as a car mechanic did help!!

      Going to treat her to full valet, and a new set of front Tyres.

      As I have a curious mind I am going to send the old pump away for testing as I want to know which component has failed. If it's a quick fix, I shall have it repaired, and either sell it to get my money back for the replacement, or keep it as a spare.
