Do turbos blow up if you don't let the engine idle before switching off?!!

I think it would take me longer to pull up set the brake stash the sat nav unplug my Ipod grab my phone, take a swig of my coffee before I turned then engine off than a turbo timer set for ten seconds.

S42 of the RTA 1988 deals with leaving an engine running in a unattended vehicle.
There is also legislation dealing with idling engines.
Don't see why it would be pointless gives everything chance to settle not as if its an Evo or scooby that runs very at high speed and temperature.

Settle? it is not a home brew wine.

I was actually referring to the 10 second countdown being pointless.

Surely as you have mentioned the fact that it is not an Evo or a Scooby would make it even more pointless.

it can take as little as 10-20 seconds of driving to get a turbo hot enough to warrant cooling down time, even in city driving.
it may take as little as 10 seconds idling for the temps to drop back down again.

If you guys think a turbo timer is pointless then my mate has remote start on his corsa (curtsey of a Clifford alarm)
