  • Fuel priming

In an effort to solve my fuelling problems, I have been checking parts of the fuel path.

When I put the filter back on and try to prime the system, I get no fuel coming into the filter. Does the system have to be sealed to do this or can I leave the exit line off so I can see the fuel being squirted out when it's full? I have pressed the primer a few hundred times now with no success.

Primer may be stuffed, but take the filter off again, fill it with clean fuel (or better still, with new ATF, as it will clean your injectors ) and try starting the engine. If it starts, you may not need the primer until next time. Ensure the small 'O' ring in the water drain tap is serviceable, as a small air leak here can cause difficulties too.
