Check your Ariel lead is not tracking rain water from inner wing space into passenger footwell. Check out one of my previous posts (sorry don't know how to attach link to this reply) where I describe the problem and remedy in more detail.

This might explain the remedy a little better than my previous link ... assuming it is the ariel lead of course.
          Good luck

            UPDATE:

Finally. Finally got 10 mins to look at this in daylight.

Removed kick panel from driver's footwell.

I guess this could be it...

            So reconnected:

            Refitted kick panel.

Tried the rear squirter. Nothing. But sounds like something is happening down by the kick panel, and no wet carpet.

I've had the wet carpet without explicitly selecting the rear wash/wipe function. Does it have a go, even on front screen wash/wipe? Will contunue to monitor carpet moistness...

Edd China would have tested it before refitting the kick panel...

Try a vindaloo if you have rear squirter problems.

                    Still got mine.

The rear squirter still doesn't work. Watched it with the pipes all connected in the kick panel, nothing coming through, but there are a few bubbles moving. No leaks though.

The wet is still there, under the carpets. Not coolant, so must be water. So that means the wash/wipe system or the aircon. Screen washers are fine, rear wash, as above is dry because nothing coming from the reservoir for this.

Had the aircon running for 10 mins and nothing coming from the overflow pipe, so will have a go at cleaning it out tomorrow, with strimmer wire.
