  • Another "What's this component?" (pics attached)

I've been under the bonnet trying to see the temperature sender unit that I need to replace (that's another thread elsewhere on the forum, no need to answer that one here, thanks) and noticed that the component I'm pointing to in the pic has a rubber tube coming from the bottom of it which is not connected at one end. It appears that it should connect to the small diameter tube that can be seen just under the component, directly under the clip. The component in question is located towards the forward end of the block, just under the exhaust manifold, left-hand side (driver's view from seat).

    Two questions:

1 - What is the component I'm pointing to?
2 - Should the rubber tube be connected to the small diameter one?

You can see the small diamater tube better in the second picture, directly under the component (white thing with AISIN written on it). Any advice appreciated, as always!

http://www.hiluxsurf.co.uk/showthread.php?t=62 Its a filter on the vac tubes and the link has a vac diagram of what should be connected... the one maked in red will give power loss and has a habit of coming away.

          Thanks guys.

@BushWhacker - You nearly had me there. Had to Google it. My Surf, unfortunately, doesn't compare to the Starship Enterprise!

To answer the question, it's the hose from manifold for the Turbo Pressure Sensor. Reconnect to the manifold and if loose use a new piece of hose. What you are pointing to is a filter for the sensor under your finger.

Thanks Nev. I've pushed it back on but I'll get a new piece of hose.
