  • KZN185 Fault Code 14

...Does any-one have a definitive cause for fault code 14 or better still, the solution?
Would really appreciate some help with this.
Is it worth repairing, selling or scraping?
Sure as hell is no use sitting on the drive in this condition

I've used both Diesel Bob (google) and DIESEL ELECTRO COMPONENTS - based in Norwich for pump repairs for our taxis. I found both cheaper than a new pump...

Are you 100% sure your woes aren't head related? I notice your description on another thread of 'loads of white smoke' when revving.. White smoke is usually water vapour/coolant.

No, not sure at all but today, in the daylight, the smoke is more of a shitty grey diesel colour as opposed to a clean, sweet smelling white. I'm thinking diesel smoke rather than steam. I don't really want to rip the head off if it's the pump and visa versa. Doesnt use water, doesn't pressurise the cooling system. Saying that, i don't want to spend a fortune (which I don't have, just made redundant) on the pump if thats not going to solve it

          HELP PLEASE

Grey smoke is low fuel pressure or insufficient volume i.e. more air than diesel is entering the combustion chamber = faulty pump.

Shame you weren't closer, I only charge 'mates-rates'.

well "go mobile" for the day

              Happy to pay x's.
Gota find a pump or have this one re-conned.

Any recommendations on suppliers or reconditioners?

Ponty pandy's not actually that far...

Neither is Kiddy for that matter. Get out for the day Vince and come and do a tour of the Midland Surf Massive...

It won't/can't be this side of January, it's like a bluddie Surf only carpark here at the moment.

One on the road, one on the drive, one half in the garage, one at the back of the garage, another one coming for the day tomorrow!

Only three and a half of them are mobile.

Having seen your environment, I appreciate your predicament!

@ Oily, If Bushwhacker had the time, you could trailer it down to him. Hire it! only charge about £40 for a car trailer.

And I would imagine a 3rd gen is worth keeping surely?

I could probably borrow a car trailer but my tow vehicle is...er...poorley

Could maybe do with fixing this before Jan

At least the smokes grey then rather than white and watery!
Bushwaker is no doubt spot on re the injector pump, but as you're skint it might be worth checking the following which can all cause the symtoms you're having off the top of my head:
                        Turbo wastegate
                        EGR fault
                        Faulty Diesel Injector/s
                        Injector wiring harness Faulty

                          Thanks for all the tips...
I'll look at them in the morning
I'm sure your right about the pump and I'm just clutching at straws.
Looks like I'm going to be changing the pump myself as no body's offering
Biggest issue now is finding a good s/h pump or a recommended re conditioner.
As for being skint, I am but I've still got to get this vehicle up and running.
while I'm in there, should I change the cam belt?
Best place to get a belt?
                          Any suggestions about the pump?
                          All recommendations considered.

Are the fuel filters, including the wee one in the fuel pump, clean?

You could also try changing the TPS, that seems to fix a myriad of problems.
Do you know that, with a 50 character limit, it's

Yes all fuel filters are scrupulously clean.
I've been told this before about the TPS. Where is it?
