    Location of TPS please...?
And opinions as to the likelihood of it causing my woes please.
Surf will tick-over all day long, smooth as you like until you raise the revs and then you get a cacophony of mayhem
grey smoke, missing, hunting, stuttering, won't rev above 1.5/2k .......you get the picture

          Sounds like the IP.

Just on the offchance, have you checked all the connections on the ECU?....Sorry cant think of many things left to try if you have done all the other suggestions.

Umm..... Passenger side foot well on mine (2nd gen), behind the grey thingy bob (opposite to where the internal fuse box is on the driver side). Funny enough (or not as my wallet thinks), just had my pump done http://www.hiluxsurf.co.uk/showthread.php?t=77976 (Post 10 I think).

Would have got a second hand one but the guys had already taken it out and at least its done now as you can never quite 100% guarantee a second hand part…….Might last 6 months or 6 years (not knocking it…most of the bits I get are second hand…. just saying that’s the chance you take as you cant tell unless you rebuild whatever it is).

I know my own limits with a spanner so had to fork out....

                ...Thanks again wiggy...
ecu is obviously located else where on the gen 3

I'm being quoted around the £500 mark and thats with me taking the pump off and re-fitting it

Not a bad price I'm afraid based on taxi repairs i've had done.
Did you check out the turbo wastegate etc?

ECU is up high, behind glove box.

                      As Nev says.
To get at the ECU you need to remove the glove box lid - 2 screws at the bottom. Then remove glovebox liner - 3 screws, one on each side which are easily seen and one in the top of the glovebox itself.
You will have to unclip some electric connector blocks to get the glovebox out.
Next is a black plastic heater tube which will wiggle out.
The ECU is high up and has 3 connector blocks to remove before unbolting it.

I have just had to do the same. Not as hard as it sounds, about 10 minutes.

What has accessing the ECU go to do with replacing the fuel pump??

Last straw clutched and made not a jot of difference

The pump is now at Carwood's in Smethwick awaiting for them to pull a figure out of the air to stick on the invoice
