3.0 starting problems

Hi Guys,
i have got internitant starting problems, parked up outside newsagent to get a newspaper would not restart. nothing, the batteries are fine. eventually got it going on third attempt. exact samething happened this morning. Got a suspicion it may be a switch that stops you starting when in gear? ( i was in park and had the handbrake on) i am a little worried as i am off to Cornwall on Saturday.

i know you guys can point me in the right direction.

The engine won't crank over at all unless the transmission is in 'P' or 'N', the neutral start switch cuts power to the starter in any other gear position.

Could be the fuel primer.
With the engine off, press the plunger on top of the fuel filter a number of times, after approx five or six pumps you should feel a resistance, if not then a new filter head is required.
