need a new tailgate for a kzn185

A telegraph pole jumped out at me in the rain yesterday and the upshot is I need a new tailgate and spare wheel arm.

The toyota dealer can get them from Japan but there are 4 different tailgates (about £700) and 2 different wheel supports (£1000 and £70 - yes that's correct, not a typo) takes about a month and the specs are all in Japanese ...

Roughtrax don't stock them.

Any ideas on sourcing/part numbers etc would be much appreciated.

There is a breaker in Galashiels ( Thompsons I think ? ) He has a 3rd gen with front end damage, however Im pretty sure its the tailgate with underslung spare so probably not what you are looking for. Sorry I could not be more specific but I never actually saw the truck, my son reported it to me.

Jack at roughtrax took me thru all the deails of the spare parts and numbers on the toyodiy site. He made it quite clear he wouldn't import them for me as it was too much hassle for him and suggested I use my local toyota dealer. So it was pretty decent of him to take the time.

I think I've tracked down some spares, but I doubt the 2.4 tailgate will fit. The 3.0 tailgate is the wrong colour - hey ho ... I'll have to dig out some old dulux tins. :-)

The 2.4 is a previous version/generation. I believe the body and panels were different.

Took 6 weeks of looking but I finally found a tailgate and wheel arm.
Jap 4x4 in Braintree were breaking a couple of 3rd gens.
Very easy guys to deal with and they even fitted the tailgate on the spot!
