  • Toyota Hiace Regius 1998 Exhaust system

I have a grey import from Japan. My van needs parts for the exhaust system. I need to replace the front down pipe and middle pipe with box. Any advice or contacts to help me get the correct parts would be greatly appreciated.

    Sincerely

    Liecalens

        Update

So far I have quotes from Toyota, bit pricey as I am not after the full system and Mike at Japarts who are much cheaper. Bit of advertising for him there. Unfortunately he is based in Swindon and it is getting the parts delivered to Lancashire where I am based.

Either way the parts need to be ordered and then there is a 2 week wait before collection.

I am looking at the possiblility of a custom exhaust as this I am told is a cheaper option however I think the nearest place is in Walsall nr Birmingham, again this would mean taking my bus to them and in the condition it is in will be on a wing and a prayer. I have heard that the stainless steel exhausts can fracture and if not genuine parts can damage the engine though. Does anyone know if this is the case.
I am more than happy with the genuine performance of the Regius without trying to improve upon its performance.

I would love to know of any places that break Regius (God forbid - bless em) and if they are reliable and not cowboys. Could anyone advise on this.

I am still waiting to contact BBC Spares in Hemel Hempstead as they have been very helpful in the past for body parts.

My father, a retired maintanence fitter is on hand also, looking for stainless steel piping and looking to weld repairs - a cheap albeit less long term solution - however it is worth considering.

I shall keep all of you updated on how I resolve my dilemma as the info can be a great help on these forums.

        Thanks guys

I had a custom full stainless put on last year here in Nottm (M1 J27) and perfectly happy with it. Is the Walsall place the one that advertises on ebay?

Their prices are around what I paid. I am sure there must be places closer in Lancs that would do similar work though.

            Partial Result

            Hi all

Thanks for getting back to me Jimster. It is the same place I was looking at in the Midlands. You would think that there be something closer to Lancashire although I have yet to discover them.

I have had a repair done on the original pipework. The guys at my local garage inserted and enclosed the broken exhaust with stainless steel and welded the flange up.

It should last for a a year or so and has bought me time to look around at what is available. The cost was £140.00 in the end for the temp repair.

This is an invaluable forum. Keep up the good work.

            Thanks - Leicalens.

Try this guy in Burnley, he makes bespoke stainless exhausts, had my motorhome,4 runner and the wifes Previa done there. He specialises in all 4x4 stuff as well.He has some serious off road stuff to look at whilst your there.

Could be worth a call. Graham at DCMS, 01282 414413
