    You know a mechanic.

Why don't you post him a head? (for the Surf)

    Then drive it home finished.

Surely this is the least hassle option, especially as you're leaving it there anyway. either let him do it now, or come back and get it later.

Personaly I'd drive it home, having a break every hour or so to check the coolant level

A guy did a 2000mile round trip of Europe a couple of year back in a 2.4 that already had a cracked head when he left.

If you don't let it overheat it won't normally get any worse.

I realise its blasphemy and probably has drawbacks that will no doubt be pointed out but I cracked the head on a supra i had a few years back and stuck a variation of THIS in it and surprisingly it actually worked, lasted a year and even then it wasn`t the head starting to leak that killed the car but the drunk who hit it head on while i had it parked up

Just been to speak to the mechanic, and he said that the head was pressure tested and held the pressure fine for 24 hours, so he put it all back together only to find that it was still bubbling?

What the Fook?? Could it be anything else? Does it have an egr cooler?

        Cheers,

        Curly

As has already been said; The crack doesn't become apparent until the head gets hot.

He could pressure test it to the end of the century cold.

Soon as it's up to temp the crack lets past.

          That's the fook.
