  • What RPM does you truck idle at?

Mine seems to be idling a bit low and sounds near the point of stalling. just above the 500rpm mark. I'm sure it was around 800/900rpm last week.
    Still Can't believe I own a Hilux

Mine's a little high at about 950. There's something wrong if you've lost 400rpm on your idle speed. I'm sure one of the tech gurus will give you a diagnosis. Hope it's nothing too serious

Mine indicates 500rpm and idles fine. IIRC it should be 750+-50rpm. The apparent low idle speed is probably an ECU issue.

Perhaps the OP had a sticky cable or linkage that's now cleared its self?

Do you know that, with a 50 character limit, it's

yup 750-800 unless on fast idle
sounds like the flux capacitor needs an overhaul

try cleanin inside the throttle body on the inlet wit a bit of carb cleaner.
the bypass(or idle air control valve) which controls air flow wen the butterfly valve is closed is probably gunked up causin it not to idle properly it should be around 750rpm

My TB is spotless, but the idle is still 500rpm. It's the ECU that controls the idle speed. If it were something like the TB, the incorrect idle speeds would vary, but they don't. They're always 500rpm.

I believe the manual idles lower than the auto, which do you have?

There is also a small allen head screw on the throttle plate that acts as a stop that can be adjusted to bump up your idle if you want it a bit higher.

There's no IAC Valve and idle should never be adjusted with the screws. This will alter TPS setting.

Well it seems after abusing it for a day in the rain and mud and water (http://hiluxsurf.co.uk/showthread.ph...426#post748426) it sits on 750rpm quite happily.
                      It's an auto too.
