  • Clunking and squeaking drum brake

My rear right drum brake has been making a weird crunching sound for a couple of days then it went away. I thought it sounded like a stone and then I assumed that stone had gone away.
Yesterday it came back with a vengeance. It can't be a stone. There was a really loud howling squeak coming from it as I was going along then kind of flapping noise.

Then, I slowly moved along while looking at the wheel earlier and the whole wheel juddered - only at slow speed though. it looks like it's on some kind of ratchet system but the rear wheel seems to move out at the front. (I say out, it looks like when the front wheel is steering to the right but it's the back wheel)
This has now developed a weird clunk.

Anyone had this? I feel it's going to be a sit down and take brake apart job though.

Still can't believe I can't understand your post!

Such as "Then, I slowly moved along while looking at the wheel earlier"

You friends with Dr Who the time traveller?

    However,
from what I can work out, if your rear wheel is moving then the wheel bearings are shot, not the brakes.
