  • nasty noise

If anyone can shed some light on this for me it would be great. On full lock n/s in reverse in 2wd there is a really nasty noise as if something is rubbing but its not as far as i can see.I have replaced inner and outer track rods, wheel bearings, pit arm and idler arm.
It drives fine its only on full lock from the n/s.

I`m thinking arb bushes next as there is a little play anyway?

Grease the steering stops, 2 on each side, that'll fix it.

I feel abit of a fat git now.It is rubbing when i`m in it lol i have just had AT`2s fitted and they are rubbing on the inner arch.

Do i just adjust my torsion bars up half a turn? to be honest i`ve never played with them.

          Cheers

If it's the stops, it will sound more like a knock and sometimes a loud metal on metal grind but will usually be quick. Does it make the sound when going up and down the kerb, rough ground, etc or does the ground make no difference? Also, is the sound there all the time it is moving whilst on full lock?

Half a turn won't make any difference. 5 turns will lift the front about half an inch.

              What size are your tyres?

They shouldn't rub. Are the wheels standard?

no they are prime alloys from the states. Not by choice they were on there when i got the car.
Is it clockwise on the torsion bars?

I'd guess that the offset is wrong.

Yes. But all you're going to do is lift the front higher than the back. I'd be more inclined to check everything else is OK first.

looking at car from the side on a level surface the car dips at the front. It looks like the rear springs and shocks have been done at they are cleaner than the front shocks.

I suppose it could have been lowered at some point, possibly to match a SA.
