  • Oil leak - help needed please.

    Hi
Just had an MoT - passed! But while on the ramp the mot'er did point out to me a pipe approx 10mm in diameter hanging down at the bulk head rear of the engine which was leaking small drips of engine oil. It looks (?) like it ends up somewhere under the oil filter housing? Any ideas what/where it goes please?

I also have a small weep at the rocker cover gasket - again at the rear bulk head end. I have had the rubber 90 degree bent crank case breather pipe off today and it looks clear. To wet and to many other pipes etc in the way for me to have time to take the cam cover off today and replace gasket. Any tips?
    Cheers

The 10mm pipe will be the one that runs from just below the oil filter, it catches the mess you get when you change your oil filter and that then runs down the pipe dripping on the floor rather than running down the engine........

Don't forget to tell everyone its indestructable as seen on top gear.......

? I'm lost! I did post it in the 3ltr section. Is it a common issue?
          Many thanks

Not unless you've just changed the oil, it'll drip for a while then.

Otherwise you're filter is leaking, or oil is leaking from somewhere else into the oil filter drain.

It's been a few months since an oil change so must be filter or perhaps the weep from the rocker gasket.. Not sure on that one though..

              I'll have to investigate! Cheers.
