:( 2 new sounds to deduce....

Started happening yesterday...

First sound is the turbo.

Started making a SSSSHHHHHHH or more precisely a CHEEEWWWWWW type noise on boost. And then get a "dump valve" type SSSSSHHHHHH noise when I let off the accelerator.
All of these sounds aredefinitely NOT a PSSST type sound or a hiss.

Second is a (I think) exhaust type noise. Directly associated with the revs/turbo, this one sounds like a WHAAAARRRRRR type noise, similar to a blowing exhaust.

Now, whats the connection?

Is there a faulty component that could do this, or is it more likely to be a gasket somewhere on the turbo?

Not had the high pitched whines so assume the bearings are okay?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Very real.
I know sounds don't really relate that well to the written word, but other than getting it in a garage, I don't know where to start looking for the problem.
Hoped there might be a "common" fault with the 3.0 turbos that someone could enlighten me on?

First things to check are the rubber connections between the throttle body and turbo. Could be something simple like a loose hose clip or a split in the rubber.

I bet you're going to say it's got a split in it and you're wrapped some Gaffer tape around it for now??
