  • Cold Starting Issues!

    Hi guys,
Having issues starting up in the cold weather.
Can anyone tell me if changing the glow plugs will sort this problem. Been reading other threads on here, but still not completely sure if this is the answer as i may be a bit of a thickie!!!
    Cheers.

Make sure the fuse for glowplugs is ok first.

i will check, but should be fine. It does start but it takes a while and i have to rev it as soon as its going or it cuts out.

On your dash board keep an eye out for the glow plug light (yellow coil) it only flashes on for a second, count to 5 elephants ....crank...

i do wait longer than the lights on the dash, you can hear what i assume are the pre-heaters before i try to start it.

Try giving the fuel primer a few pumps first as well.

on top of the fuel filter on the bulkhead/engine bay/passenger side. H

On mine I switch everything off in the car (blowers lights etc) turn the key so all the dash lights are up, then wait for the "click" from the heater relay in the passenger footwell (15 secs) then turn the ignition all the way, starts 1st time every time.

                  Ha!!!
Solved the problem in the "old school of motoring" way.
Covered every electical wire i could find under the bonnet in wd40.
                  Sorted, fires up straight away!!!
