Auto Gear Change

checked oil level cold - high above top mark (hot) ran car for about 3 miles and gear changes were ok for about a mile and the car started to hold first gear and second as decribed in the thread
after the quick run the gb oil was just above the hot mark
i notice on the dip stick it said dexron ii (2) but i refilled with dexron 3 about two years ago when i changed the oil, the car is a 3.0 td auto 2nd gen

Too much fluid!

Did you check the level with the engine running?

no, engine warm but not running,
when i changed the fluid (about two years ago)the level when hot was ok.....strange things these boxes

recommended course of action drop the oil and refill with new

dexron 2 or 3 ????? as mentioned dexron 2 was stamped on the dip stick ????

oops, engine needs to be running, or level is about 1" or more to high up the dipstick!

Dextron II or III works don't matter.
