Coolant change

Sorry to ask the question, but how much coolant should I expect to drain out of my 1996 KZN185 3ltr surf (with rear heater), I have only managed to drain off 7.5 litres with drain tap open and the bottom radiator hose off. Before draining I checked the radiator and the level was above the internal fins and just below the filler neck. I have read that a kzn185 with rear heaters should take around 10 litres, if this is the case where is the remaining 2.5 litres hiding, I presume the expansion bottle holds around 0.5 litres, but I'm still missing 2 litres or so, any info would be much appreciated.

Its still in the engine block, there's a drain plug but I drained mine by undoing the thermostat housing then flushed with a hose through the heater matrixes for about ten minutes to clear out any crap, did it all back up, filled to the rad neck, went for a short run onto some backroad found a little offroad incline, parked facing uphill so the rad neck was higher than the upper inlet to the heater matrix, brake on and let it cool enough to undo the filler radcap and slowly topped it up to the neck again.
