Had a new radiator fitted today as it was leaking, but the garage have split the top hose. Got home and the 'slight drip' that was 'nothing like what was coming out before' [Garage's words] was more like a steady dribble from near to where the top hose clips to the radiator, which continued for 5 minutes or so with the engine off, slowed and then stopped. Not really sure how much was coming out when I was driving (is this likely to be more or less?), but surprisingly I can still see the water level at the top of the radiator. Not being mechanically minded, I'm not sure if the top hose normally has coolant sitting in it as well when the vehicle is stood and the engine is off. If it should, this will obviously have all escaped (the dribble I saw when I got home?).
Taking it back tomorrow for them to fit the new hose as they couldn't get it from Toyota until then, but worried about frying the new radiator having to travel the 11 miles back to the garage (15 minutes run as mostly motorway/dual carriageway).
If I make sure it is full when I set off, am I likely to lose all the coolant through the split hose during a 15 minute run? I don't seem to have lost a vast amount on the way home today, but not sure if the split had got worse, as for at least that 5 minutes after I first got home, it seemed more than the slight drip the garage had described.
