BIG BIG thank you to all who replied to my previous posts, but especially to Tony N who hepled point me in the direction of the spill valve which was at fault on my truck, preventing it from starting.
Got a replacement Denso spill valve from Merlin Diesels at Walton Summit nr Leyland, set the height of the fuelling adjustment screw to match the old valve and Bingo starts and runs beautiful again.
BTW the spanner I used to get the valve is a 32mm special flat spanner used for removing viscous fans a-la Ford Sierra 2.0 pinto engines and it works a treat. The Denso number for the spill valve is 096600-0033
