I fitted the rebuilt halfshafts that Albannach kindly gave me to get the Surf back on the road.

Pretty easy job removing and refitting the shafts.

Old bearings, these were very worn although only the n/s one had developed a very slight oil weep, all that wetness is actually brake fluid.
New bearing pressed in and new seals put into cleaned up axle.
This pic shows the axle end with oil seal removed ready to fit the new one.
If any Surf owners are doing this job, here's a tip, make sure the studs are pulled as far through the hub backplate as possible to make sure they line up with axle flange.
You can see in this pic a bit of bubbling that must have been caused by heat in the bearing, this was the one that was weeping a tiny bit of oil.
