  • Air con gas

Hi, does any one know the weight of gas (grams) needed to recharge the a/c on a 95 ssrx 3.0 TD. We looked for sticker that says how much gas is needed but couldn't find one and the local toyota garage couldn't tell us as it's an import.

I bought the standard gas top-up last week at Halfords. It cost £49 but you get £10 back if you return the gas bottle after.

You must read the instructions fully before you do it, but it took me abot 4 minutes and my air-con is now too cold to run on full fan eve on the hot day recently. The best £39 I have spent in ages...

I told the butcher I'd give him £25 if he got the meat down off the top shelf. He said he couldn't. The steaks were too high.

It'll be the same as a UK 4Runner shouldn't it?
They are all 3.0L I believe?
I've got a plan and it's as hot as my pants!

        3rd gen air con question

        3rd gen, P reg -
can I buy a can of cold from Halfrauds and just squirt it in?
will the fitting provided fit the surfs fitting?
do I need to consider new seals?
do I need to vacuum the system first?

        anyone?

When I had mine repaired professionally a good few years back the guy said it should take about 700 -750 grams from empty. If you are using the Halfrauds kit just make sure you don't overfill it.

Thanks for the responses. A mate who does air con was doing the work but said he couldn't complete the job without knowing the exact weight of gas. There is a yellow sticker in front of the radiator which we suspect is to do with the air con but unfortunately we can't read it. If anyone with a 3Lt 4 runner could have a look under their bonnet and see what the sticker says i'd be ever so grateful.

I think it's probably to say the system has been upgraded to take R134 gas as originally they would probably have had the now banned R12 when new.

Don't p!ss about, take it to KwikFit, £49.99 for a guaranteed cooler system.
Do you know that, with a 50 character limit, it's

Nah, any 3.0 truck will have R134, its only 2.4's that have the old stuff.

Does your mate not have specs for a 4Runner? I'll have a look at our tomorrow, or just take it to Quack Fat as suggested!
