  • Leaking fuel pump

Today I was greeted with a leeking fuel pump. First problem in 2 years fortunately. It is leeking by the large nut/sender unit fuel shut off valve I think. Can this be sorted without removing the pump from the truck . By removing the four cap head bolts and the fuel inlet pipe. Then hopefully replacing the o ring/s. I think this is because of using veg oil? Many thanks for any advice.

I believe that this is a problem with using a high concentration of veg oil and can easily be replaced. I seem to remember Apache posting about this a short while back. I'm sure if you search you will find the answer,

    Cheers, Nick

If you remove the block from rear of pump you will probably have to get the pump recalibrated. As far as I know you can't remove the Spill Control Valve without major dramas.

          Fuel pump

Hi Nev hopefully its a case of removing the air box and fuel line/s moving various cables out of the way removing large nut then the 4 cap heads from the top casing/cap then remove switch then O ring replace with new then large rectangular o ring and reassemble bleed the system. Just need to source new rings.......I hope

              KZN130 fuel pump

Went to Toyota all they could offer was an exchange pump. So went to a fuel injection specialist and picked up a service kit. A Denso overhaul kit with every gasket, screws ,copper seals, numbered o rings and diagram. Denso serial no 096010-0630.

Just done the pump took an easy 45 mins. The "O" ring in question was flat and split .The Denso serial number on the package I cannot fined on their web sites so i assume its old stock????

If you tighten the large nut be very carefull because inside the pump the casing is on a plastic lug locating on a peg, if that turns it will sheer of and the bits will drop into the pump. Its is there to prevent sheering off the wiring inside.
