While browsing tru' the roughtrax site, I found 2" lift springs for the 3rd gens. They are not too dear, about £200 for front and rear.
Now the problem, the description says you need longer shocks for this. Is this true? I would be using my Surf for mostly street driving with a little light offroading, do I still need longer shocks?

If I do need longer ones, where can I get them. Would something like the ProComp's from Explorer suit?

    Any ideas

(All the times I fitted 40 or 50mm lowering springs to various cars, I never had shortened springs, So would longer be really necessary with 50mm taller springs?)

I'm told the springs from roughtrax are made by procomp so they should match up with the shocks....I would have thought. I also emailed procomp a couple of weeks ago about the surf. This was the response:

"We offer a 2" suspension lift kit for this model - contains 4x coil springs, front struts and ES3000 rear shocks, priced at £345.50 including VAT. No differential drop kits I'm afraid."

ps. I probably won't be able to reply for while as I'm away on business for the next few days.

Dont know about 3rd gen, but my 2nd gen has the original electrical adjustables on after a 2" suspension lift! They havn't caused any problems as I only do towing and On road use at the moment!
If, sorry, when I can decide to change the shox, I think the pro comps are the best value for all round use!
Although I'm quite tempted by the adjustable Rancho's that are available.

As I understand it the original shockers limit the range of axle droop off road and I'm guessing It's also not good for the shocker to do this!

So really if you do any off roading perhaps you should invest in longer shox?

How much lift did the springs give you? Did you get the full 2" in the rear. Did you just crank up the t-bar up front?

          Ciaran

I used OME springs which give the best lift that i know of, originally 3" then settled now to a genuine 2 1/2 ". front torsions wound up to 14 1/2 inches from centre hub to wheel arch, still a little low at the front but looks OK! guess It's gonna be different dimensions for third gen!
but no probs not too harsh I was gonna cut the bumpstops in half as most people recommend this to allow more travel ,but for the use I'm doing It doesn't need It!!

I was going down the balljoint spacer route and still may in the future but I'm concerned as to insurance implications!(Cutting the top control arm)

Cant recommend the Ome's enough, they are not too firm and when towing and loaded up they are near perfect!
