    hub seal?

i've got a small ammount of oil on my rear wheel coming from the centre... is there some kind of oil seal for the hub and how do i get at it? i'm guessing the round bit that is in the middle of the drum un screws with the help of a hammer.. but i don't wanna beat it to death and find out that's not the way to do it!!

any ideas what it's all about?

The only way to remove the outer oil seal is by removing the hub, 4 bolts at rear of drum & removal of brake pipe and hand brake cable, then pull the whole shaft out (be ready with a rag as you lose some diff oil when you pull the shaft out)

Remove the 2 locking rings, abs sensor gear and wheel bearing with housing, no a nice job really.

Don't Try undoing the hub from the front it just doesn't work that way

The inner oil seal is easy- just remove the hub and shaft and the seal is located in the end of the axle housing, you wont need to remove anything off the shaft if this is the problem.

You will need to bleed the brake afterwards.

If your outer seal has gone you may as well change the bearing while your at it, as its likely you will damage it trying to get it off the shaft.
