  • Timing Belt Change. Have I Got Everything?

Should be coming up to a timing belt change in a few of months, most likely April / May and I've just been browsing the Roughtrax site.

I've listed the parts I intend to replace below, I think I've covered the big stuff but is there anything else needed? (I hope not, the piggy bank will be taking a bit of a hammering for this stuff!)

    Waterpump 3.0 ltr Diesel 1KZTE Engine £75.00
3.0L Engine Cam Belt Kit £95.00
Fan Belt Kit (3 piece) £13.95

    Subtotal (Excluding VAT): £183.95
    VAT: £32.19
    Subtotal (Including VAT): £ 216.14

A good colling system flush and 5L of antifreeze.

      Why a waterpump?
Is it good practice to change w/ cambelt?
      Never heard of it.

On my own truck I would do it while the belts are all off and I was working in that area. But it's not essential.

        On a 2.4 it's good practice.

Cheers Andy, I'm not sure if it's essential to change the water pump, I'm after more opinions, but knowing my luck it would fail after I'd had the other work done.

I'm heading up to Rowardennan, on Loch Lomond, in May so would like to have all the work done before then if possible.

For peace of mind, I would change it.

On the 3.0l the water pump can be done just by taking the fan belts off and maybe the t/belt cover but thats all
