I'm going off to London early in March ... 200 miles each way, mostly on motorways. Shall let you know what fuel economy I get (promise not to exceed 70mph )

Hi Buddy,
I have run a 3.0td KZN 130 for over four years and its a fantastic truck that has never given an ounce of trouble except a starter motor refurb kit. It is regularly serviced every 6 months with a kit from Milners and some oil from work.. I have to say there is a lot of Surf MPG bashing about.
Look at the facts its an old two tonne truck with old technology. I also hear about people switching off the overdrive and using ECT and how fast they are! What a load of old bullshit.
I am a HGV driver so know a thing or two about sympathetic driving. Around town, I get 23-25, on a run I get 27-29 and towing my Sierra Cosworth at a steady 60mph I get 20-21. The key is really to keep the truck rolling at all times, so think and plan ahead. Its no coincidence that by the time I get to an island there is no one in front of me so keep rolling. getting two tonne moving from standstill takes effort. Effort = fuel
Not the best, but I would not swap it for the world. What price bombproof reliability?Last edited by ben2611; 11 March 2010, 23:39.

Stating you come from the the top of the alps to the bottom, was it in neutral all the way down? Bring it up to Brum mate and I`ll bring my ten grand if that hits 50mpg around the Bull ring all day you are welcome to it.

Given the fact that you are well exceeding the manufacturers recommended fuel economy figures I would love to know how you do it?
