No reverse & slow forward gears help please!!

I'm almost ready to give up with this thing.

Made a couple of calls today, both seems to think it sounds like the clutch plates have gone?

If it's the gearbox it will be probably cheaper to replace than repair.

Don't give up, they are great trucks when working

I know, ive had it for 18 months, just cant afford to chuck a grand at it at the moment!

It doesnt help our other car blew a head gasket last week either, I have had some other bad luck but I won't bore you with that, you will need a large vodka, trust me. If you see me in the street cross in case I pass it on. lol

I have attempted to get to a garage this morning, but cannot even get it off the drive! It will not roll back even on the decline it is on, i have tried everything to get it to loosen off, I cannot get the 4wd stick to move over to right to go into (N), I have pressed the red button whilst in (N) on drive stick but nothing, any ideas please?

Engine on, press brake pedal, select neutral on main lever then H2(All the way forwards) on short lever.
If the short lever is in neutral you'll have no gears/movement..

Thanks Bushwacker, I'm sure I have done this, but will again tonight. That red button by the stick should it not release to neutral?

Hi all,

I have the truck being recovered to a garage on monday, a couple of the guys on here have said they have a gearbox if needed, they are both off a kzn130's, does anyone know if these will go straight onto kzn185?

Ok, looks like I'm done with the Surf.

Garage took it today and has said that the gearbox is fubar, £800-£1600 to repair, or £400-£700 for second hand replacement plus fitting and vat.

Anyone got a kzn185 auto gearbox in a breaker?

Yours has the same auto 'box as the 3.0 2nd gen.

I have mate, he has a KZN130 as does supersurf, neither of them fit onto the kzn185 apparently.
