  • Brass Bushes V Idler Arm

    Please could anyone be so kind as to tell me how to check if the rattle under my Surf is the idler arm or the brass bushes as its sending me many thanks for your help
    I NEEED MUD.....and Welsh spring water!!!

    you should find a block of buttons on the drivers door card , make sure they are all in the up position

    this has worked for me for the last 3 years .

      Just a suggestion, how about - Replace the easier/cheaper of the 2 and if the rattle is gone, great!

      If the rattle is still there afterwards then replace the other offender!

      I had the same problem and this sorted it!

      I found out that my rattle was neither, it was the heat shield for the turbo that had come lose and was "jingling" against the steering column!

      Alternatively, tie a midget to the underside of the vehicle and take it for a drive!

        try moving the drive input by cv joint, should be virtually no vertical movement, unlike mine that moves by 2-3mm
