  • Engine Cutting out in reverse

Hi All, Long time no speak

Its time to get the flamin' truck fixed.

    2nd Gen 3.0

When its been running for a while, I can select reverse no problem, but as soon as I give it any throttle it "miss fires" or momentarily cuts out repeatidly. So much so it normally stalls. On the flat it will roll back with no problem but any gas and its spluttering again. I'm thinking its electrical.

    Any ideas?

I'm getting a little fed up with having toyota garden ornaments again.

    Cheers

    Dan

No. I havent touched it in months. Been sat collecting spider webs.

I've removed the immobiliser ans so sorted the intermittant ignition cut out problem, but still got the reverse one.

Never changed the ATF. If its ok in forward cant see why it would do it in reverse.

I'll do it as matter of course anyway

Could it be the kick down cable?

Or does the gbox bring the revs up when reverse is engaged?

So no little black box then?

Maybe have to change all the solenoids etc. too.

Hi Danno , long time no talky . If you need an ECU repair I have been recommended a specialist company who has done a few Surf ECU's before with no problem. I think they charge £70 for complete overhaul with warranty. Let me know if you want their details and I will get them for you.

On another topic. What type of battery (072 etc) do surf's have?
