  • Changing ATF tonight

Going to change the ATF tonight via the sump plug. I would do the two buckets methods as here http://www.hiluxsurf.co.uk/forums/sh...ght=ATF+change but as my source opf ATF is going to be Halfrauds (£23 for 5 litres !!!!) I can't afford to.
I know that doing the sump plug method doesn't drain all the fluid so
Is there any rerason not to
    1) Take off the 'blow' tube from the rad, switch the engine on and drain as much out that way
    2) take out the sump plug for the rest
    3) Fill up through the dip stick

Would this drain more than just removing the sump plug?
Is there any reason not to do it this way?

Didn't in the end as thinking about it without using the two bucket method you would essentially be running on empty as it drains out.

Drained about 5 litres from the drain plug then refilled with the same amount.

Both times I have topped up the ATF the best thing I have found to use is either a magazine cover or a long takeaway menu (basically any thickish glossy paper) rolled into a thin tube and taped up. You can push this in the filler hole and the sprung clip that secures the dip stick will hold it steady whilst you pour the ATF
