Reading stories like this only serves to reinforce my belief that diesel engines should be run on diesel and petrol engines on petrol. Trying to save money using VO or LPG only leads to reliability issues.

Hmmm so why does VO clog up the filters and wreak the seals in fuel pumps whereas proper diesel does not?
I have driven diesels but never owned one, though my next truck could well be a diesel. One thing I do know is that I would never use VO just to save a few pennies.
Anyhow good luck and let’s hope you get your truck running again soon.Mine WAS a 150 bhp V6 and ran on PETROL

John I haven't been able at the moment to get any pics.I will try to get the pump out this evening and get pics if not it will be in the morning.
If you got everything disconnected and the bit of foam taken out from between the pump and block you should be able to see the bracket at the back of the pump to the block.
You have got the 2 bolts off that allow you to time the pump aswell haven't youhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/henpals/

Hi Richard
No worries
I did have those nuts off but put everything back together yesterday after I sort of admitted defeat and just washed the pump out.
My bit of foam is in two bits now cuz it was stuck but I dont think that will matter.
It was too wet to work on it today but I shall do it all again tomorrow.
I am thinking I will have to remove the pipe from the turbo to the throttle assy to get to the injector pipes at the top/rear and then completely remove them to get them out of the way.
I didnt do that last time cuz when the pump didnt move I sort of lost interest.

Injector Pump
Hi Richard.
I managed to get the pump off with a struggle, the bolt behind the engine mount is a pig, no idea how I will get it back in.
Had to make up a compressor/extractor out of some quarter inch flat steel, a big nut and bolt and some 6mm bolts in order to put some tension on the pump shaft and then wallop it with a lump hammer. Took the rad out to get a better swing at it.
Stripped the pump down but didnt find any crap anywhere, I couldnt get the spill solenoid out but it sounds like it is working.
Unfortunately it is possible to put the spill pump shaft (the distributor part of the pump) back in two ways, so I may have timed the pump 180 degrees out.
50/50 chance.
To be honest I am not sure I want to go to the trouble of putting this pump back in only to have to take it out again so I may look out for a replacement pump.
How did you get on???

Hi John.Sorry i never got the pics up for you..I have started to get it out but i keep ending up getting called over my dads as he just wont take things steady as a he has cancer and still thinks he is a youngster so i have to keep going over to take over what he's doing to help him.
This motor i got here was working ok but as long as the rain holds off this pump will be out sometime todayhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/henpals/

Thats fine Richard, you pointed me in the right direction... Thanks
BTW I dont think you need to remove the bracket from the pump just loosen it and remove the block bolts.
Also unless the A/c rad is removed also, the gain in removing the normal rad is minimal about 4ins (I know thats a lot to some) you do get rid of the plastic cowl tho that gets in the way. but fitting an extractor to tension the shaft prior to belting it makes it fly out. Took me about an hour of belting before I went this route tho.
I may be in the market for the pump you are removing, I am going to fit mine with just the timing screws first to see if I get anything out of the injector pipes if not then there will be no use in fitting it completely.

Well I got the thing going again today, must have got the timing right last night.
I need to solder a small leak in the rad before I put it back in then I shall tempt fate and go for a run.
What I will have off you Richard is the little plastic filter and pipe that goes between the inlet manifold and the Turbo Pressure Sensor (just behind the fan and help in a spring clip) if you still have it please.
Email me the cost and your address and I will send it to you.
Wont know about the pump until the end of the weekend, sooner if it dies on me again.

I need the pump
Hi Richard
Put my beast back together.. it started straight away so I left it to warm up on fast tickover about 20 mins later did a quick revup and it died. No fuel out of the injectors so I reckon I need your pump, I assume it came off a running engine.
Please email me with your details'cost etc.
John
