  • Pump Timming

    Hi All
Got a second hand fuel pump it wont run well when its aligned to the pump marks on the timming case.
The Crank, Cam, and pump pulleys all align with there marks.
The pump has had to be pulled round to its furthest position from the engine so it is on its limit to get it running without any knocking, but still getting check light come on at idle.
If I were to position the pump pulley one tooth back, this will move the crank, leaving the cam out of sync.
Will this cause major damage if I try to run the engine?

if you keep the cam and the crank marks correct you will not do any damage while testing but if your marks are all alinged there must be something else wrong you cant correct it by altering the marks, have you checked the crank sensor?
