  • Sould this not be attached to something???

    Hi all!
Was having a bit of a root around in the engine bay as you do & came across this..... absolutely no idea what the sensor is for but looks like it should be attached to something!, anyone any ideas as to what it is & what it should be attached to??? If it helps it was dangling down to the left of the fuel filter, next to the autobox dipstick and has what seems to have a roller on the end of the sensor.

    Please see below for link:

    Again many thanks in advance!

Not sure but it could be the sensor that sits in the side of the air filter box/hose. Have a look at the rear of the hose to see if there is a hole there.

The roller you describe is an air filter or one way valve so may be part of the vacum system that controls so many things on these ###### cars.

looks like one of the VSV's for the EGR. its all connected up, but not bolted on. It lives behind the oil filter.

            Pretty definitely a VSV.

Yep, it's a VSV and should have two hoses attached. Not sure which one it is but just look for a bolt hole close to where it is and remount it.

If its the EGR one near fuel filter and I think maybe under manifold then one hose will be connected to a metal vacuum line and the other hose to the top of the EGR valve.
