if you are changing the gearbox oil you should read this http://homepage.ntlworld.com/dorothy...bemx/p_m20.htm dropping the oil out the box doesnt work as most of it is in the torque converter, however if it is still nice and clean and not burnt i would leave it as it is
The dorothy bradbury site a mine of highly usefull info.....was a regular visitor during my Probing(oooeeeeeeeerrrrrr)days .
Never took much notice of the ATX side of it tho.....time to read...thx
Found it, checked it, all ok but will be renewing the oil soon.
What I did find was a lot of gung in one of the rear drums, seemed to be real sticky and all over the leading edge of the shoe.
Thinking this may be part of the problem as I said it was worse when cold, got me thinking that this gunk was solidifying in the drum when left to cool and when driven was loosening up allowing me to roll when in neutral, making me thing it wasn't the brakes.
Cleaned it up and all seemed well...............still going to change the auto box oil, will see how it goes.
Hi If the gearbox oil is not discoloured and doe,s not smell burnt l would leave it alone, if everything is back to normal now you have cleaned your back brakes.
Wot's with that cable tube going around the oil filler cap - it shouldn't be there!
cos of the body lift... the engine's lower so a few bits are out of place... and that's the battery cable, usually clips to the radiator shroud but i took mine off instaed of lowering the rad and um... forgot about it!
p.s. mr admin... #### doesn't seem to be in the expletive deletive list!
